the HeArt project, a collaboration between the scientist Rachel ter Bekke and the artist Claudia Volders
in the hall of the administration building at Minderbroedersberg 4-6
Monday to Friday, from 9 AM to 6PM,from June the 22th until September 2018
The artist and the scientist look across each other’s boundaries, in which art not only serves as a tool or instrument for science, but in which science also can provide a surprising perspective for the artist. Several projects on art and science have already been carried out at this university, and more than you might suspect. However, often only visible to insiders and in small circles. It is a pity, because it is precisely by sharing these often innovative projects that art can be an inspiring and supportive in science. In this exhibition we would like you to inform about with one of those art and science projects.
In the Heartproject, the cardiologist Rachel ter Bekke and the artist Claudia Volders entered into a partnership in the MUMC + hospital to search for meaningful ways of communicating, enabling patients to share their experiences in an accessible way with regard to their cardiovascular disease and daily life.
With their collaboration and results, ter Bekke and Volders hope to inspire and encourage other researchers and students at Maastricht University to get off the beaten path to discover the added value for science and art.
