Kunstprijs 2003

On wednesday January 29, 2003, an exhibition of artwork by University of Maastricht employees and students will open. It will run through may 2003 at two UM locations: Minderbroedersberg 4-6 and Universiteitssingel 40.

Two prizes will be awarded. A jury prize of € 750 will be awarded at the opening. Two months later a prize awarded by the public will be given at a festive occasion.

All students and employees of UM who make art are invited to participate. Our definition of making art is to be involved with art in such a way, that its practice forms a serious and continuous part of one’s life besides study and work. We request that those interested submit photographs of a maximum of 5 pieces of art before November 27. Every kind of art is welcome, including photography and video art. Interested persons should state the size, materials used, and title for each piece.

About ten finalists will be chosen by an independent jury which will include at least two employees of art institutions, as well as a well known art collector from outside the university. The public prize will be determined by an email (vote) election of UM employees and students.

The exhibit is organized by the Art Committee and the Working Group for Museum Function (Werkgroep Museale Functie) of the University of Maastricht. The address for submission is the secretary of the Art Committee, Marlies Romero, Facilitaire Dienst-Vastgoed, UNS 50 or by email: marlies.romero@fd.unimaas.nl.

Information is provided by Annemieke Klijn (83232), curator for the Working Group for Museum Function, and Hans Philipsen (81833), chairman of the Art Committee by telephone or email.
