Four artists, who work at UM as a receptionist, show their work.
They seem to have in common their search for that one moment, the hidden or the intangible. With notes, drawings, photos, paintings or installations they record their 'data', their thoughts and feelings in signs. The process, the path to the final work is very different in all four. Everyone chooses an authentic elaboration in image and language through the choice of material and working method.
Andries Hoogenraad, sculptor and painter presents paintings. Landscapes, places that reflect the spirit of the place. This can be a place during a long journey, a Sunday afternoon walk or just a cycling trip to the studio.
The artist says: " That one moment, that shape with that particular light and composition, and that quotidian, everyday normal, suddenly becomes very special."
About the process during the work, he states that paint, structure, light and the representation of the space provide new perspectives. Creating that specific space of an image or painting is crucial.

Nathalie Brans was as a child already fascinated by the question of where do we come from. ’ Laying in my bed, I tried to imagine the size of the universe.’ If space fits in a shoebox, how big then is the earth, and how big am I? As small as a dust particle or even smaller?
This question about the insignificance of man in relation to nature and the cosmos has led to an interest in the sun, moon, stars and planets. The chosen materials, mostly paper and thin textile, emphasize the volatile character of the work with the colors and give it a light appearance. With great craftsmanship and concentration she seeks a balance between the factual and the intangible.

Ruben Philipsen is interested in unveiling reality, which he perceives to be multilayered in almost every sense and bringing to light its hidden aspects. Although trained as a draftsman and painter, photography and objets trouvés (the appropriation of found objects) are playing an increasingly prominent role in his visual work. Historical references to art also have found their way into his works, which are mostly created outside the studio.

Titia Eggen about her work:
" My work is conceptual by nature and deals with the place where one is. The starting point is always a certain facet of the intangible and fleeting, 'being somewhere' in the moment, in the here and now. “
Her work consists of floor images and imaginary travel notes in the form of collages, booklets, video and wall installations. The floor sculptures form installations from loose parts on the ground.
